Another year but not the same.

A new year, a new course and I'm back at the arts institute!
Truthfully i didn't quite know what to expect when joining my classmates on FDA Visual Communication, there were some new faces and some old, also the familiar surroundings of being back at the AIB.
Our first brief was titled "TEXT and IMAGE". The brief was very well set out and also easy to understand as it has guidelines, aims and learning outcomes for each section of the brief. I found this very helpful as the briefs i had previously received on National Diploma were vague and unstructured which sometimes proved frustrating.

The project began with a visit to Poole Quay to record our surrounding, i used this as a day to take photographs and produce a few quick sketches as the weather was cold and wet. This provided me with some primary research so that i could then begin my project.

I visited Poole Quay again to do some more primary research which gave me the chance to produce some more detailed Sketches and also collect information about the different aspects of Poole.

I will experiment with my primary research and also look at different artists to determine what kind of editorial illustrations i will produce.
I will also begin to look at type as we are going to begin the second part of our brief titled "VERNACULAR TYPOGRAPHY".
We will be beginning this part with workshops in 'Type and Tape' + 'letterpress' .
